The rose is undoubtedly the most enchanting flower in the garden. Fragrant blooms, ranging in almost every colour, start as sweet demure buds and then mature to dominate as the grand and glorious Queen of the Garden. The transition of often rich red foliage in the fall, and golden hued rose hips is a beautiful conclusion to the gardening season.
Since 1960, the Calgary Rose Society has provided education in growing roses in our region’s often less than ideal environment. Through our meetings, newsletter, open gardens and special events, we promote the cultivation of the Queen of the Garden. Our Gallery of Roses displays a selection of the many varieties of roses that can be grown in Calgary.
